What a hot tub hookup costs
Hot tub hookups start from $749. Price depends mostly on the distance from your panel to the tub, whether the wire runs overhead, along the house or underground, and whether your panel has room for a new 240V breaker.
What's involved
- A dedicated circuit sized to your tub's spec sheet (often 40A or 50A for 240V tubs)
- A GFCI-protected disconnect within sight of the tub, placed at the distance the electrical code requires
- Weather-rated wiring and connections outdoors
- A permit, done through a licensed Master Electrician partner
Plug-and-play 120V tubs
Some smaller tubs plug into a 120V outlet. They still need a dedicated, GFCI-protected outdoor outlet, and they heat more slowly in Edmonton winters. A GFCI outlet install is $119.
Before your tub is delivered
- Choose the spot and check the base is level and solid
- Find the tub's electrical requirements in the spec sheet or manual
- Measure roughly from your panel to the tub location
- Keep the area clear of overhead lines
What to send for a quote
- The tub's make and model or spec sheet
- A photo of your panel with the door open
- A photo of the tub location and the side of the house it's on
